The Light Princess is a musical written by Tori Amos and Samuel Adamson, and produced at the National Theatre in 2013.

In 2011 the designer Rae Smith invited me to work with her and Marianne Elliot (the director) on some shadow puppet sequences for the show.  This morphed into stop-motion animations at some point during the process and I worked on the films over a couple of years, and had a lot of help from Emma Pile and Lawrence Rowell.

Here are some production photos, the animations became multi-functioning devices - a big screen cartoon at the beginning of the show, as moving 1950s b-movie backgrounds and sometimes just as a backdrop, merging my world into Rae's and into the imagination of Tori and Sam's writing.

I made some video diaries to document (some of) the process . . .
